Professional Rehabilitation Seminar hosted by the Military Medical Academy

Belgrade, December 5 - The 8th professional seminar under the title ‘’Day on Rehabilitation’’ organized by the MMA Clinic for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Serbian Physiotherapy Association, Physiotherapy Section of the Serbian Medical Society was held at the Military Medical Academy today. This seminar was devoted to the treatment and early rehabilitation of patients after ischemic diseases of the heart and brain as well as to application of stem cells in the treatment of those diseases.
The MMA head Major General Prof. Miodrag Jevtić, MD, PhD opened the seminar. In his address to the most eminent physiatrists and physiotherapists from the Republic of Serbia, General Jevtić particularly stressed the importance of physical medicine for the rehabilitation of a patient and the role of rehabilitation nursing within the treatment process and pointed out as well that the MMA Clinic for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is one of the leading organizational units of the Military Medical Academy. ‘’I am really honored to see, today, Serbian experts in this field of expertise gathered here, at the Academy which is certainly a regional leader in medical treatment, in such a large number. Col. Prof. Aco Đurović, MD, PhD, the head of the MMA Clinic for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation spoke about sexual rehabilitation of cardiac patients. Col. Prof. Ranko Raičević, MD, PhD, the head of the MMA Neurology Clinic gave a lecture on novelties in the treatment of ischemic brain infarction.
Lectures on physiatric and physiotherapeutic approach to the early rehabilitation of a patient after ischemic stroke, acute myocardial infarction, aortic-coronary bypass and the application of stem cells in the treatment of ischemic diseases of the heart and brain followed. Those lectures were delivered by the AF civil employee doctor Marina Kilibarda, LtCol. Dr Dejan Miljković, Major Assist. Prof. Dr Slobodan Obradović, Dr V.Radević, LtCol. Zoran Trifunović, MS, Dr V.Pejović and senior medical technician Gordana Pavković.
